
On 23 July the population from the village of Fatuhada celebrated the opening of their new village office.
At the inauguration were present the Minister of State Administration and Territorial Management, Dr. Arcangelo Leite, the District Administrator from Dili, Mr. Rubem Braz, the village chief, Mr. Justino Monis G. Leite and more than two hundred people that are currently living at the village among teachers and NGOs members.
"The village offices are important common areas where people have access to trainings, community meetings and also functions as a mediation space for dispute resolutions", said the village chief.
The village office of Fatuhada started to be constructed in May 2007 and after a two year process was finally inaugurated in a ceremony that was also attended by the students of the Fatuhada primary school.
As I sign of trust in the community, the government of Timor-Leste allocated USD$ 7.000 to each suco so they could put in practice their skills and capacity to construct and rehabilitate their own offices.
"I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the village chief because this inauguration is and important initiative that was happened with the support from the government that provided funding for the construction and refurbishing of the village offices around Timor-Leste", stated Dr. Arcangelo.
