As a public service the National Graphic of Timor Leste commit to produce national graphic for government and public service to the nation. National Graphic Timor Leste perform its duty according to code of commercial and regulation promulgated in Republica Democatica de Timor Leste.

National Graphic established in November 2002 with Public Information as its first official name. Naming of Public Information in fact is not in accordance to the its conditions and principle functions or duty. Therefore, it was decided to use Press or Graphic. If we use press in Timor Leste, the community particularly in Dili will relate it to journalism, such as what they call Press conference. Hence, I propose to use or change it to National Graphic Directorate, base on its principle functions to perform its duty related to press (publication) of country official documents/Government documents.

National Graphic’s duty is as of Public Journal of the Republic in which as compare during Portuguese period we called Boletim official and in Indonesia period we call ‘Lembaran Negara”. Therefore, in any country should any decree or law passed will be published as a means to aware the society that a certain law is being passed. Due to this, we officially started our duty with our principle function begin on June 2003. We produce the first edition of Journal da Republica which contained the RDTL constitution, Act no 1/2002, as the first law after gained independence which cover act of publication in relation to the establishment of Nationa Graphic.

On 4 June 2003 First number of Journal da Republica is published. Its processes are as follows: we receive acts or resolutions from the parliament, decrees from president of the republic, or other information which according to law need to be published on Jornal da Republica. Earlier we printed at University National of Timor Leste, then at dioceses graphic Baucau and lastly we are again printed at Graphic division of National University of Timor Leste. However due to the increase of cost we are now rent Silvia Dili to print the publication. Up to date we have been published documents such resolutions of the parliament, decrees of the president of the republic, decrees, decrees of the government, Ministerial diplomas which published in I series. As of today we have published around 3000 pages Dispatches and Nominations, Exone-resoens. The Ministerial dispatch was published in II series almost 2000 pages.
