Ministry Directorates

The Ministry of State Administration and Territorial Management is comprised of nine directorates. Each of the nine directorates is responsible for different areas of state administration. A short summary of each of their responsibilities is below.

National Directorate of Public Service: Responsible for the development of public servants and the management of all government human resources.

National Directorate Local Administration: Responsible for the administration of districts and sub-districts.

National Directorate Finance and Administration: Responsible for preparing the annual action plan, and the preparation and management of the Ministry's budget.

National Directorate Local Development and Territorial Management: Coordinates the decentralization process and local government reforms.

National Directorate Assistance to Suco Administration: Supports Suco (village) Administration, including the building of Suco offices and the holding of a national Suco competition.

Technical Secretariat for Elections Administration: An independent body responsible for organizing and supervising national and local elections (separate website).

National Institute for Public Administration: An independent body responsible for the professional development of the public service and training of local authorities.

National Printers: Responsible for the printing of public documents, such as the Journal of the Republic.

National Archives: Responsible for archiving and rpeserving official documents.

Underneath the Minister of State Administration and Territorial Management are also the Secretary of State for the Region of Oecusse and the Secretary of State for Administrative Reform.
