National Directorate of Local Administration

Introduction

National Directorate of Local Administration (as the oldest directorate along with DNFP/CISPE) in MAEOT, during the transition government of UN (UNTAET) was named administration of local government and development (ALDG) under Ministry of home administration. After the independence of Timor Leste from UN on 20 May 2002, district affairs is changed its name to National Administration of Teritory Directorate (DNAT), and through well selection Mr. Lino de Jesus Torrezão was appointed as its first director.
In remodeling of I constitutional government for first time in 2003, DNAT was under the Ministry of state administration until 8 August 2007.
During 5 years period, DNAT was not much develop. In 2006, the III constitutional government appointed Mr. Arcangelo de Jesus Gouveia as a new director to DNAT as former director was accepting a political appointment. Moreover, after almost 2 years DNAT develop itself a lot in 2008, in particular to the following:

  1. on October 2007, after the formation of IV constitutional government, His Excellency Minister of State Administration and Order of the Territory, formerly as Director of DNAT (Still DNAT), appoint Abilio Jose Caetano as the new director of National Directorate of Administration of Territory (DNAT)
  2. On March 2008, with decree law no. 5/2008 of 5 March, the National Directorate of Administration of Territory changed to National Directorate of Local Administration.
  3. As time goes by National Directorate of Local Administration build  another 2 directorates such as: National Directorate of Local Development and Order of Territory (DNDLOT) and National Directorate of Sucos Administration Support (DNAAS)
